The Professorship of Egyptology provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to pursue her or his research with the support of exceptional resources, to participate in a vibrant, diverse and collaborative research community, and to play a leading role in the development of Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies in the UK and internationally. In addition to its lively and wide-ranging research and teaching environment, Oxford holds a world-leading combination of resources for Egyptology including the collections of the Ashmolean Museum, the Griffith Institute and the Sackler Library. The Professorship of Egyptology is central to teaching and research in Egyptology in the University, as well as to advancing the position and profile of Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies more broadly. A scholar of the highest international calibre is sought, with an outstanding record of research and publication in any area of Egyptology, and the ability to teach and inspire students at all levels. The intention is to fill the post from 1 October 2013.
